Crawl Space Encapsulation in Washington, DC
Challenge
A homeowner in a Washington, DC townhouse was facing persistent moisture issues in their crawl space. The damp environment was causing musty odors to spread throughout the home, increasing humidity levels and raising concerns about potential mold growth. The homeowner knew that if left unaddressed, the moisture could lead to structural damage and poor air quality, impacting the overall health and safety of their home. Seeking a permanent solution, they reached out to NV Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for help.
Solution
After conducting a free inspection, our Design Specialist identified the root causes of the moisture problem and recommended a full crawl space encapsulation system. To address the issue, we began by installing durable drainage matting to allow water to flow properly beneath the encapsulation. Next, we added SilverGlo insulation panels to improve energy efficiency and reflect heat back into the home. We then sealed the crawl space with a CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, creating a moisture-proof barrier to protect the home from dampness and mold. Finally, we installed a SaniDry Dehumidifier to maintain low humidity levels and ensure the crawl space stays dry year-round.
The results were transformative. The crawl space was no longer a damp, musty problem area but a clean, dry, and energy-efficient space. The homeowner was thrilled with the outcome, knowing their home was now healthier, more comfortable, and safeguarded against future moisture issues.
