Crawl Space Repair and Encapsulation in King George, VA
Challenge
A homeowner in King George, VA, contacted NV Waterproofing and Foundation Repair after noticing sloping and uneven floors throughout their one-level rambler-style home. The floors had become increasingly concerning, and the homeowner wanted to determine whether the problem was connected to the structure beneath the house.
During our free crawl space inspection, our team discovered that previously installed DIY supports were not providing enough strength or stability for the floor system above. The crawl space also had high humidity and excessive moisture, which had caused some of the wooden support beams to begin rotting. Mold growth was present as well, creating additional concerns about the condition of the crawl space and the air moving into the home.
Without professional repairs, the weakened beams and insufficient supports could have allowed the floors to continue sagging and the structural damage to worsen.
Solution
Our team developed a complete crawl space repair plan to address the structural, moisture, mold, and drainage concerns. We began by treating the affected areas with Mold-X® to help remove and control the mold growth inside the crawl space.
Next, we installed supplemental support beams beneath the weakened floor system. SmartJack® crawl space supports were positioned under the new beams to provide strong, adjustable support and help stabilize the sloping floors above.
To protect the crawl space from future moisture problems, we completed a full crawl space encapsulation. We also installed a crawl space dehumidifier to help maintain healthy humidity levels and reduce the risk of future mold growth and wood rot. A SuperSump® sump pump system and exterior discharge line were added to collect groundwater and safely direct it away from the foundation.
After the repairs were completed, the King George homeowner had a cleaner, drier, and properly supported crawl space. The new support system strengthened the floors above, while the encapsulation, dehumidifier, sump pump, and discharge line provided long-term protection against moisture and humidity. The homeowner can now feel more confident knowing their rambler-style home has dependable structural support and a healthier crawl space beneath it.
