Basement Waterproofing and Foundation Repair in Mount Rainier,MD
Challenge
A homeowner in Mount Rainier, MD, was grappling with a persistent and concerning issue: water seeping into their basement. This problem, common in areas prone to foundation settlement and poor yard drainage, posed a significant risk to the structural integrity of their home. The homeowner noticed cracks in the foundation walls and increasing dampness in the basement, raising fears of long-term damage.
Seeking a dependable solution, they contacted NV Waterproofing & Foundation Repair. During the initial inspection, our System Design Specialist identified two primary causes of the water intrusion: foundation settlement leading to structural cracks and inadequate drainage around the property. These interconnected issues required a comprehensive approach to not only stop the water intrusion but also stabilize the foundation and improve the overall drainage system.
Solution
To address the homeowner's concerns, our team implemented a comprehensive solution tackling both the foundation and drainage issues. We stabilized the foundation walls using the PowerBrace system, halting further movement and offering the potential to reverse wall failure effects over time. To manage water intrusion, we installed the WaterGuard drainage system beneath the basement floor, which discreetly collects seepage and channels it to the SuperSump pump, while IceGuard in the discharge line prevents freeze-related blockages during winter. Outside, we improved drainage by installing a LawnScape outlet to safely direct water away from the property, burying the downspouts to prevent pooling near the foundation, and integrating an exterior box drain with the sump system to manage water buildup. Finally, we applied CleanSpace encapsulation to the interior walls, creating a moisture barrier that keeps the basement dry and healthy. This comprehensive approach transformed the basement into a secure, usable space and provided the homeowner with long-term peace of mind.
