Concrete From Steps Sinking in California, MD
Challenge
In California, MD, a homeowner faced a concerning issue with their front concrete steps. Over time, the steps had begun to sink, creating a noticeable slope that not only detracted from the home’s curb appeal but also posed a safety hazard. Upon inspection, it was determined that water erosion beneath the concrete had caused the soil to wash away, leaving voids that led to uneven settling. This problem, common in Maryland’s humid climate, required a durable and precise solution to restore the steps to their original position and prevent further damage.
Solution
After a thorough inspection by our System Design Specialist, NV Waterproofing & Foundation Repair proposed utilizing our advanced PolyLevel® and NexusPro® systems to address the issue. The plan involved drilling small, minimally invasive holes into the affected concrete slabs and injecting PolyLevel®, a high-strength expanding foam. This foam would fill the voids beneath the steps, lifting and stabilizing the slabs back to their original position.
To ensure long-term protection, we also recommended applying NexusPro® Joint Sealant to all cracks and joints. This durable, weatherproof sealant would create a waterproof barrier, preventing future soil erosion and maintaining the stability of the steps over time.
