A homeowner in Glen Echo, MD, reached out to us for help with their historic home, which was experiencing water intrusion during heavy rainstorms. The home’s foundation featured cinderblocks along the lower portion and stone lining the upper sections, creating a unique challenge. The homeowner was concerned about the long-term impact of the water intrusion on their property and wanted a solution that would preserve the integrity of their historic home.
After a detailed inspection, we recommended a comprehensive waterproofing system to address the issue. Our proposal included installing WaterGuard, a perimeter drainage system designed to capture and redirect water away from the foundation. We also suggested a TripleSafe sump pump system for reliable water removal, even during power outages or heavy water flow. To further protect the home, we recommended encapsulating the space with CleanSpace, a durable vapor barrier to prevent moisture from entering and causing further damage.
