Alexandria Basement Waterproofing: From Flooded to Dry Home
Challenge
A family living at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Alexandria, VA, faced recurring water intrusion in their finished basement during heavy rains. What began as minor seepage gradually escalated, damaging flooring, drywall, and furniture, and filling the basement with musty odors and the constant threat of mold. Hoping for a quick fix, the homeowner tried short-term solutions like sealants and patches, but these measures failed, especially during intense storms, leading to repeated flooding and costly cleanups. Realizing their efforts were only stopgaps, the family reached out to NV Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for a long-term solution that would restore and protect their valuable living space.
Solution
After a thorough inspection, our team designed and installed a comprehensive waterproofing system tailored to the home’s needs. We began with the WaterGuard® interior drainage system, efficiently capturing water seepage along the foundation and directing it to a SuperSump® Plus pump. For added reliability, an UltraSump® battery backup was included to ensure water removal during power outages. CleanSpace® vapor barriers were applied to walls, blocking moisture and brightening the basement, while SaniDry™ dehumidification actively reduced airborne moisture, filtered allergens, and hindered mold growth. We installed new electrical outlets for the pumps and routed water away from the foundation with an exterior discharge line protected by an IceGuard® anti-freeze fitting. With this robust system in place, the basement is now dry, the air is healthy, and the homeowners enjoy peace of mind knowing their space is protected for the long term.
