Basement Waterproofing in King George, VA
Challenge
A homeowner in King George, VA, had exciting plans to finish their basement and transform it into valuable living space. However, before investing in framing, drywall, and flooring, they wanted to ensure the area was completely protected from water intrusion. Recognizing the potential for moisture issues, they contacted NV Waterproofing and Foundation Repair for a proactive solution. Our team conducted a full, free inspection of the basement and identified several water entry points along the walls and floor joint. Without a proper management system, any future finishing work would be at risk of water damage, mold growth, and costly repairs. The challenge was to create a permanently dry foundation, giving the homeowners the confidence to move forward with their renovation project.
Solution
To guarantee a dry and healthy environment ready for finishing, our System Design Specialist recommended a comprehensive, multi-component waterproofing system, and our production team meticulously installed each element to address every potential water entry point in the basement. We began by installing the WaterGuard® Interior Drainage System around the perimeter, a patented system engineered to sit atop the footing to avoid clogging and efficiently capture any water seeping through the walls or floor joint, channeling it directly to the sump pump. To further protect against wall moisture, we installed the CleanSpace® Wall System—an antimicrobial, 100% waterproof vapor barrier that mechanically fastens to basement walls, isolates the space from damp concrete, and directs seepage into the WaterGuard®. To eliminate a vulnerable old window, we fitted an EverLast™ Window Insert made of moisture-resistant, insulated vinyl to seal out drafts and leaks while boosting energy efficiency. At the heart of the system, we installed a TripleSafe™ Sump Pump, our top-of-the-line, three-pump system featuring a primary pump for daily drainage, an extra-powerful secondary pump for heavy water flow, and a battery-powered backup to ensure operation during power outages, keeping the basement dry under all conditions. Finally, we completed the system with a dedicated discharge line extended to daylight, fitted with the innovative IceGuard® feature, which allows water to escape even if the pipe freezes or becomes blocked during winter, preventing backups that could cause flooding. With this fully integrated system in place, the water intrusion issues were fully resolved. The King George homeowners now have a permanently dry, protected basement, providing them with the peace of mind to proceed with their finishing project and enjoy their new, usable living space for years to come.
